Making Space to Create and Learn

For those who have seen me wearing my improvised jackets at the Knitting and Stitching Show (see below) they will be part of the Circular Fashion Incubator CIC on the 21-22nd May conference in Leeds. I will also be revealing a new collaboration I have been working on and offering a presentation as part of the conference remotely. I have 10 free tickets to give away so email me if you would like one with the words Circular Fashion Conference Tickets.

I have continued to adapt my creative teaching, working delivering remotely with the assistance of my project partners where I cannot attend in-person.  We have found different ways  to engage and have developed new skills with technology to engage with creative learning.

Over the last few years I have discovered:
I am able to set up my small space for a few bespoke live interactive learning for workshops, using all kinds 'Heath Robinson' props as and when needed.
I have adapted and take on different roles from sharing in hosted discussion groups for exhibitions and events, to managing projects and mentoring students on courses remotely.
I am capable of filming my own short videos (with limited equipment) yet equally enjoy the opportunities I have had to work work with professional teams when filming my work and teaching.

I work mostly in my 'garden studio' which a friend calls my rootling/pootling space  which sound posh but is, in fact, my partner's Derek's old shed which he  gifted to me when he retired 10 years ago and re-furbished for me. I recently had the roof re-done which involved dust going everywhere. Have spent the last week cleaning, re-painting and re-organising the space. I am extremely fortunate to be able to work in this calm environment which both allows me to 'work away from home' but to be on hand if needed as part of my care responsibilities. I sometimes invite other artists into the space as well.

In addition, I work in a small space upstairs which is connected to the internet, teaching attending admin and stitching when the weather is too cold.

I am offering a few in person workshops over the next few months. I am back at the beautiful  West Dean College this coming weekend and am offering a taster session with forager Becca Spain in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council Arts Team I am offering a Sketch into Spring workshop on the 30 April in Mote Park. The cost is £5 with limited spaces. You can book here.

Collage, Mark, Stitch with Creative Experiences, Barcelona, Spain, 14th – 21st October 2025. Delighted to be working with Creative Experiences in Spain October 2025. This will be one of the rare opportunities I will have to work away from home next year doing what I love in beautiful surroundings with our wonderful hosts Nadine and Mark. The work below is a tribute to creative stitching and companionship.

Further details of all forthcoming events, exhibitions and projects are posted on my  website.
